Raw Coffee Beans — Green Beans

At PANCHADASA, the journey begins at the source. Our green coffee beans are carefully selected from Rao's Estates in Chikkamangaluru — PANCHADASA's own estates nestled in the heart of Karnataka's legendary coffee country. Each lot is evaluated for quality, size, aroma potential, and cup characteristics. Whether you are a specialty roaster seeking consistency or an enthusiast eager to explore your own roast profile, our green beans offer a foundation of exceptional quality.

We offer both Arabica and Robusta varieties, plantation-grown across our highland estates in South India's storied growing regions. Each lot is graded and curated to ensure that what arrives in your hands carries the full promise of the land it came from.

Roasted to Reveal Character

PANCHADASA roasted coffee beans are carefully roasted in small batches to bring out the natural character of each bean. From smooth and aromatic Arabica to bold and full-bodied Robusta, every roast is designed for a distinctive South Indian coffee experience — preserving aroma, body, and flavour at their peak.

Bright, aromatic and smooth. Gentle roasting preserves delicate floral and fruity notes, ideal for pour-over and filter brewing.

Balanced aroma, body and sweetness. The most versatile roast — rich enough for espresso, elegant enough for filter.

Dark Roast

Bold, intense and full-bodied. A deep, lingering finish with chocolate and smoky undertones — the classic South Indian profile.

Coffee Origins

From Our Own Estates to Your Cup

At the heart of PANCHADASA lies Rao's Estates — our own coffee plantations nestled in the celebrated highlands of Chikkamagaluru, Karnataka. Owning our estates gives us something most coffee brands cannot claim: complete control over quality, from the soil the plant grows in to the cup you savour every morning.

Rao's Estates, Chikkamagaluru

Our primary and home source. Situated in India's most celebrated coffee belt — the same hills that have produced legendary coffees for centuries — Rao's Estates is where PANCHADASA begins. We grow, select, and harvest here ourselves.

Karnataka's Legacy

Chikkamagaluru is home to the historic Bababudangiri hills, Coorg (Kodagu), and a deep-rooted plantation culture. Karnataka produces both Arabica and Robusta of exceptional quality — and our estates sit at the heart of this storied region.

Farm-to-Cup Control

Because we own our estates, every decision — from cultivation practices and harvest timing to post-harvest processing — is ours to make. No intermediaries. No compromises. Only coffee we are proud to put our name on.

Blending Philosophy

Every Blend Has a Character

The ratio of coffee to chicory is not merely a formula — it is a decision about flavour, body, strength, and experience. At PANCHADASA, each blend is intentionally crafted to deliver a specific cup personality.

100%

Pure Coffee

Natural character — bright, clean, complex.

80%

Classic 80:20

Smooth aroma with a gentle chicory lift.

70%

Strong 70:30

Fuller body, richer decoction.

60%

Traditional 60:40

Deep, classic South Indian character.

50%

Bold 50:50

Intense, creamy, bold — for the purist traditionalist.

What Chicory Brings to the Cup

Chicory root, when roasted and blended with coffee, adds depth, a darker colour, and a pleasant earthy bitterness. It enhances the strength of the decoction and improves the coffee's compatibility with hot milk — essential qualities for a great South Indian filter coffee.

As the chicory proportion increases, the cup becomes bolder, the body becomes fuller, and the traditional filter-coffee character deepens. PANCHADASA's five blends allow you to navigate this spectrum with confidence.

  • Higher coffee ratio → brighter aroma, more complex flavour
  • Higher chicory ratio → deeper body, richer decoction, stronger milk compatibility
  • Balanced ratios → the classic South Indian filter coffee experience
Brewing Guide

How to Brew the Perfect Filter Coffee

The South Indian filter coffee ritual is simple, meditative, and deeply satisfying. Follow these steps to brew a cup worthy of the tradition.

Add Coffee Powder

Place 2–3 teaspoons of PANCHADASA Filter Coffee into the upper chamber of your filter.

Add Hot Water

Pour near-boiling water slowly over the powder. Press the disc gently into place.

Prepare the Decoction

Allow the dark, rich decoction to drip through — typically 10 to 20 minutes for a full extraction.

Add Hot Milk

Heat full-fat milk until hot. Pour into your davara-tumbler, then add the desired amount of decoction.

Sweeten & Serve

Add sugar to taste. Pour between the davara and tumbler to aerate and cool slightly — then savour.

Our Story

A Celebration of the Indian Coffee Ritual

PANCHADASA was born from a deep respect for the Indian coffee tradition — the quiet ritual of the morning filter, the aroma that fills a home, the warmth of a cup shared between family. At its heart, this brand is a tribute to the farmers, the pickers, the roasters, and the blenders who give India's coffee its soul.

We believe that great coffee begins long before the cup. It begins in the soil, the elevation, the shade of silver oak trees, and the careful hands that harvest only what is ready. It continues in the roastery, where heat and timing transform a green bean into something remarkable. And it arrives, finally, in your home — in a traditional steel filter, dripping patiently toward the cup you've been waiting for.

PANCHADASA is not a shortcut. It is an invitation to slow down, to brew with intention, and to experience Indian coffee as it was always meant to be — authentic, aromatic, and deeply satisfying.
